The humble beginnings of Studio Cupcakes

I like to think of my little business as my baby...its actually exactly as old as my son! Literally!

Let me elaborate....so this is how it goes...i was being thrown a 'surprise' baby shower...and i ended up making the cupcakes for it...little baby stuff ...rattles, bottles, baby feet and baby faces..i used boxed chocolate  icing, whipped up a basic (rather buttery) buttercream icing...and the only color i had on me was red...so i ended up using a dash of it and making everything in shades of pink ;) which got everyone thinking i knew i was going to have a girl! they weren't awesome cuppies, but they turned out pretty ok and since they were all themed, they impressed the guests!

So when my baby finally came along, after an agonizing 2 further months of waiting, i'd already hatched a little idea in my head of what i was going to be distributing as baby announcement favors. with lots of encouragement from hubby dearest...and immense support from family, i ended up baking over 300 cupcakes, within the first 2 weeks of my son being born! so all those myths about post baby blues....
well they were exactly that! Alhmadolillah...Allah is ever so kind!

I took my first order when he was 4 months old...and amazingly its been as much fun as work!

Every year junior grew a year older i tried to add something new to my product line...his first birthday, i made my first every 2 tier decorated cake- we had a lovely, HUGE, beach birthday bash, and oh yea!....i made a beach themed cake, with a little crabby (to match the crab on his outfit), i did a pair of cute flip flops, star fishies everywhere and of course waves and surf! even edible sand....i did a whole lot of cupcakes too....to match the cake, and come to think of it, that was also my first dessert table, though i didnt know it at that time!

on his second birthday i did my first ever decorated cookies....and a carved train cake with 3d fondant animals peeking out....

and so the treats keep rolling out of this tiny little home based business...
